Nancy's world

Nancy Jensen, a mental health survivor for the past 30 years, is a certified peer specialist/trainer, and advocate for those who are being abused, neglected or exploited by mental health providers. In 2006, she received the Voice Award from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for speaking out about crimes committed against her and others by Arlen and Linda Kaufman while in residential treatment. In addition to being a key witness at their trial in federal court, Nancy successfully lobbied for the establishment of the Kansas Attorney General's Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation Unit.

What I hope for 2009

I hope that I can find a job, working with others like myself, to help people with mental illness know that recovery is possible, that they do not have to live the mental illness. They are not their illness and does not have to be defined by it anymore.

That i can get out more, that I can get to meet new friends and do some fun things.

Would love to go to a famous place.

That Zach will come to Kansas more often maybe even move here.

That my Aunt may have a peaceful end of life.

That i will continue to be a advocate for those who have been abuse,neglected,and any type of exploitation due to having a disability.

I hope and pray for everyone I know and everyone they know to be in health. Have joy, have a peace that will be there in bad times. Be successful in whatever they do,and to pay it forward. To always let others know they are important and loved every day, never take time and people for granted.
